Dealing with Failure
James' audience, in the midst of trial, has encountered failure in those trials, and as they do so, the excuses begin to flow. Perhaps God is tempting them and it's His fault. Maybe He simply does not have the power to preserve them in faith? James counteracts his readers denial and doubt by reminding them that God, the good and perfect Father of Lights can be relied upon to do by His own power that which is good and perfect.
